16MB:Deliberate Imperfection
After purchasing an old digital camera(Konica Revio KD-500Z) from an online store, I was surprised to find a memory card that was only 16mb in size. Also if this memory card is used to take photos, and the number of photos is guaranteed, the minimum size of photos may be only tens of kb which in a low quality considering that the photos take by phones can be really big these days. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that even such low-quality images(poor image) is quite enough for me to view in some way. I was wondering if we were all spoiled by high-quality images. Then I decide to make an ‘imperfect’ project with such an imperfect camera and imperfect memory card.
I've always had a tendency to be perfectionist, and the stress of that tendency has often made me afraid of starting or unable to finish my projects. So I'm using this project as an experimental project to overcome my perfectionism.

Things that aren't perfect:
1. Old CCD (become popular again these days though)
2. a hard-to-see screen
3. 16mb memory card
4. Photo quality around 100kb to 500kb
5. Two days that not perfect.
One day is the day after we broke up (24.04.14).
It's also a day of menstruation and abdominal pain. It was a day when I put off going out until the afternoon even though I knew I had to shoot for this day or for a project.
The other day was a rainy day (24.04.21). I always hated rainy days.
Photographying rules:
1. Do not use replay function to check the result.
2. Do not delete the photos that are not satisified.
3. Stop taking photos when the SD card is full.
4. Stop taking photos when the camera is out of charge.
But might trying my best not to pursue perfection also be a form of perfectionism? I felt like I was working hard on relaxing. Moreover, the rules I had set for this project—such as not reviewing the photos after taking them, not pressing the delete button, and so on—ultimately failed due to my perfectionism. Even when it came to selecting which images to present, I couldn’t help selecting the better look ones. This is perhaps evident from the discontinuous file numbers of the photos. In this sense, the project of “Deliberate imperfection” may have failed, but in the very moment of its failure, it paradoxically aligned even more closely with its original intent.

The “Deliberate imperfection” comes from the Navajo people's approach to weaving which they think the perfection only belongs to god and the imperfection is the Spirit Line or Spirit Pathway.(👉)
